Hello 2021

HELLO! It’s me again! I’m finally back writing a blog post to give y’all an update of where I’ve been and where I plan to go with this moving forward!

I think we can all agree that 2020 was absolute sh**. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone all over the world, and up until the end of 2020, I truly didn’t feel the “effects of the pandemic” until the end of the year.

Let’s start back in Mid-March, when the lockdown officially started. I started my first ever official corporate job so I moved in with my sister to commute together to work. Given that was the idea pre-pandemic. I was able to work from home full-time until I occasionally went in a couple times a week from July to November. December hit and I moved back in with my parents so we can save money.

Positive things that happened in 2020:
– New corporate job
– I started taking on small business duties

But let’s talk about 2021.

Let’s talk small business for a second.
It’s a tough subject I feel like because not many understand just how much time, money and effort it takes to run a small business. My sister co-founded a Toronto business known as Posh Lash Professional Inc. It is a small Toronto women run company now that consists of us two. We both work full-time jobs outside of our small business.

Our e-commerce originally started with lash extension products which is great for lash technicians, however, we wanted to expand to cater to a bigger audience. So our efforts shifted towards FALSE LASHES! With that we launched our product, Magnetic Lash Liner. It is a liner adhesive that works with any regular false lash. That’s correct! We named it Magnetic Lash Liner because the liner adhesive practically magnetizes to the chosen strip lash. It’s quite cool honestly! I’ve filmed a video to showcase that our liner works with any falsie! So be on the lookout for that.

NOW A LOOK INTO 2021

this year i want to be authentic, and i want to practice mindfulness.

2021 words: Reset, Authenticity & Mindfulness

let’s continue learning new things
I’ve geared my efforts into my small business lately which is why I’ve been MIA on my Instagram and blog. I’ve started dabbling into video editing now that I invested in a camera over the holiday break, and though I don’t have any crazy editing software’s, it is still very fun and very rewarding.

let’s spend some on my physical and mental wellbeing.
I want to tend to my physical and mental wellbeing by meditating regularly, and provide my body regular movements; whether it be stretching or regular exercise. I miss reading on a regular basis. So I want to read more frequently than I have in the last few years because I’ve been slacking. This year I also want to focus on what I am putting in my body. I recently read into just how bad birth control is… and what I read, I am not happy about. So, it’s time to transition off. Every woman has been on some type of birth control, specifically the pill, at some point in our lives. And whether you’ve been on it briefly or a long period of time, it’s worth paying attention to because the pill depletes a lot of nutrients, and the “period” you get, isn’t really a period? I don’t know – but let’s get my body back to optimal health, shall we! So, let’s reset!

let’s CONTINUE TO be AS authentic as possible!
Content creation wise of course. I want to bring back my platform to be as authentically raw as possible, that is as little editing and filtering as possible. To be fair, I have never added any fake graphics to my photos ever, and I don’t ever plan on it. Let’s take it back to when we didn’t
care to edit anything we ever took! I’ve shifted my platform to skincare, so I can’t hide behind filters. I haven’t really focused much on content creation on my platform, and geared most of my efforts into my small business. And honestly, I’m much happier. I no longer care about putting out content, put stress on myself because “I should”. I mean, it can be rough on my end because lack of content = lack of views, and I still have to pay for this site!

let’s create more positive, meaningful relationships with one another!
How often do we come across people that truly want to support you? We come across a lot of people. Many follow you, sometimes like and comment. That’s great too! But since I started this small business journey I’ve been able to connect with people on a deeper level than I have with my blogging journey. So I want to continue growing with my small business, learn and connect with all sorts of people. My blogging/influencer community is competitive, the opportunity for a huge platform is great.

But what about those who run small businesses? There is so much to running a business that not everyone understands. So I don’t blame a lot of you for being quiet when someone starts running a business, especially if it isn’t your thing. Most of it is because you think “oh I don’t have money I can’t buy anything to support you.” But there are ways to still ways to support a small business even if you don’t physically buy from them! Send them a like, follow, comment, and most importantly share their profile! If you know a friend who may be interested, share it. Make use of the discount codes too! If there is anything we can take away from this pandemic, is to SHOP SMALL!

WHY SHOP SMALL?
You’re supporting someone’s dream. You’re helping them build profit. You’re helping them pay for all sorts of costs that come out of their own pocket! Many small businesses do not have investors. They are their own investor in their business. You have to find the most efficient costs for shipping boxes, labels, product packaging costs, their time and effort to even promote, costs to get certified cruelty free, vegan, and so much more.

With that being said, I hope y’all give Posh Lash Professional Inc. a look. We have 6 styles of glam strip lashes ranging from an everyday subtle look to night out glam. They are regular strip lashes, but we have a liner adhesive, the Magnetic Lash Liner, that you can use with any regular lash.

More brain dump and insight on my life (and for my digital diary; entry below originally written at midnight some day this month):

A lot happens in a year. A year ago I lived in Port Credit, in a shit apartment, with expensive rent with my boyfriend. A year ago today I applied for the third time in the same company. I guess I’m persistent that way. What I didn’t know was what was going to happen. I finally got the job. I finally got the corporate office job! I did it. I moved out of my apartment with my boyfriend and new fur baby, and into the condo with my sister. And then the world went into lockdown. There’s a pandemic outside.

It is now February 2021, and we are still living in a pandemic. This is the third lockdown. Since the start of the lockdown I’ve been able to give my body what it needs. Get supplements to improve my overall health. I was able to afford all the groceries I wanted and needed to get. I was able to indulge whenever I wanted. I occasionally exercised indoors, not consistent though. I found all this extra time that I had to fill which easily led to a burnout. Beginning of the pandemic I constantly put out new content everywhere. I made a schedule for myself, was ahead of my schedule even. I created content for weeks. Work picked up and I found myself learning new things. I always love learning about new things. That’s what’s so great about life – you never stop learning. I am learning the new world insurance and what goes on behind the scenes. We know how much I love learning about behind the scenes!

Come 11 months in to my new job, before my 1 year work anniversary. I’m hit with fantastic news. I deserve this good news. I’ve worked hard for it. Come 11 months into the pandemic, I’ve grown to love running a small business. It’s tough and there’s a lot of hours put it. The rewards are small. But they’re still rewards. Though they are slow, the orders will pick up. I trust that once the pandemic is over, and people have excuses to go places, they’ll see the demand for this. Though, I still think there is a demand because why do you need a place to go to specifically dress up for just to make yourself feel good. If you wanna wear it around the house or to the grocery store because you feel good in it, just wear the damn thing! (Wear our lashes in this case!). It’s 2021 – time to take care of you.

2021 is the year I am going to reset and listen to my body. Right now, my body is telling me to take care of myself – overall physical, mental, and wellbeing. It’s time to put myself first and feed it good food. Listen to why I used to get really bad pains, why my body reacted this way, and what makes my body react. Trust your body, Pris. Listen to your body, Pris. It will be better than you have ever imagined. It’s doing great now – you just don’t completely see it because you always feel like you’re never doing enough. So slow down and listen. Slow down, listen and rest. Reset.

Sit back and read.
Do some yoga once in awhile. Put some movement back into your body.
Keep catching up with those who matter and put value into your life.
Work on that small business – let’s grow!
Keep learning and keep growing in your corporate job. You’re being noticed. Clearly. You’re rewarded for it and it hasn’t even been a god damn year! That’s bloody fantastic! Even with a god damn pandemic, not every one is this blessed.

I am blessed. I am happy. I am exactly where I need to be. I am forgiving and have forgiven myself for all the choices I have made in my life. Everything happens for a reason. I am wealthy. I am a money magnet. I am loved. I am not my skin.

That’s all from me for now folks. New product review coming soon! Stay tuned for that!

With love,
